SCENT CONTRAST AND DUALITY

an explanation of how we choose our scents

You may only know the symbol as a balance of light vs dark, or good vs evil. But what you may not know is that it is actually the concept of dualism; describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary and interconnected. In relative terms, you cannot have dark without light or good without evil and vice versa.

Things are pretty much split evenly when it comes to the popularity of darker scents vs lighter scents. So in the spirit of the Yin Yang, we have chosen many of our scents in this manner. If we begin with a darker scent, then we need to balance it out with an equal pairing of a lighter scent. Keeping that balance not only allows them to work together in harmony when burned at alternating times, but also appeals to a wider audience.

We also use this theory on a broader scale as well when we look at our scent collections as a whole, tying the scents to a particular month or season of the year to ensure a proper balance of scents. For example, winter vs summer or spring vs fall will assist in organizing a calendar of scents that everyone will love.
